About Robert Jan de Boer
Dr. Robert Jan de Boer is a lecturer in Safety Management at SDO University of Applied Sciences (sdo-hogeschool.nl) and a management consultant in the field of safety and operational excellence. He studied aerospace engineering (human-machine systems) and obtained his PhD in Cognitive Systems Engineering on mental models in 2012. His book titled Safety Leadership: A Different, Doable and Directed Approach to Operational Improvements with a foreword by Sidney Dekker was published in early 2021 (ISBN 9780367652753). He is one of the founders of the successful Restorative Just Culture workshops, which have been given dozens of times to NHS staff in England. And he advises the process industry, defence and aviation. He has several publications to his name on Restorative Just Culture.
