I’m Wout Ruijs, Quality and Safety Manager at a ground handling company. I came to the Masterclass Safety Differently to find out more about the Safety Culture to increate that in my company. What I learned here is that there are a lot of safety clutters in the system and that we could help our people to really get practical safety. I really enjoyed sharing our experiences with other safety experts from all the kinds of other industries. I really enjoyed getting knowledge from Sidney and Robert Jan in this course and sharing our experience with all other safety experts from all kind of other disciplines and industries.

Hello my name is Wolfgang Mueller, I’m from Austria and I’m a retired airline pilot and also crew resource management trainer and safety trainer, not only in the fields of aviation but also in healthcare or Fire Brigades and actually any other context that has focused on safety.
I’m for a long time already a great admirer of the idea of Safety Differently. Coming from aviation, of course from my very first day as a young pilot, safety was the highest priority but then overtime I learned there is different views onto this phenomenon of safety and learning about the concept of Safety-II or Safety Differently really changed my whole view of my work as a pilot and now my work is a trainer and instructor.
Coming to this workshop here in Hamburg with Robert De Boer was maybe the best thing I have done so far because being in the same room personally with an expert like him is a unique experience. Not only we have learned a lot about the concept of Safety Differently itself but it is the interaction in the course, the inputs from different work areas like maintenance or wind energy or aviation. And being challenged by him not to fall in the trap of the old safety thinking and even if I have worked in this field for a long time still I’m prone to these traps and he raised my awareness of exactly this. If we want to transform our organisations into a new safety view thinking then this was maybe the perfect thing to do and I can only encourage you to take part in the next workshop. I wish you all the best for that.

My name is Rafail Tsifetakis, I’m a captain in a major airline in Greece. I came here with my colleagues to the Masterclass Safety Differently. It’s not only a workshop, but an exchange of safety approaches, which is a very important thing to all involved in safety related industries: nuclear power, factory, aviation, maritime and all industries absolutely. If you want to develop your thinking of what’s safety, if you want to improve your skills, if you want your employees to have an enhanced approach to what’s safety I strongly recommend it. It was a great experience for all of us, aviation and non aviation related personal.

I’m Joey Virola, head of base production in the Philippines. I can say that this this Masterclass Safety Differently was very important for us, as we are working with about 1600 people and of course we want safety for everyone. The Restorative Just Culture is very important to make sure that we have a good relation to the people and also to protect them. So, I highly recommend to do this training for your company, so that you can be more safe

This master class has significantly improved my skills and attitudes in the area of organisational safety. Contrary to my initial concerns, the hybrid format was not an issue.

Training consists of very good interaction and the trainers were able to bring the group together.

Very well organised, maybe one more day would be better to optimise the learning, ‘cause it’s very compressed. Topics discussed are not “easy” to be understood, so the suggestion is to show the contents to “structured” managers.

An excellent training, recommended for anyone that is looking for real and practical safety and trust in their organisation. Trainer was able to give clear answers and examples to any questions. Sidney, even online, had a great connection with the group.
Wout, team leader and trainer, ground services

I found the variety of the group very valuable, different professions and businesses, making the discussion very interesting.

Even if the master class is really focused on safety aspects of an organisation, I appreciate the fact that the same approach to safety differently can be applied to other departments (e.g. production and q.c., that is really my job).

Greatly compressed and highly relevant menu of safety management tools.

I picked up some interesting new leads, that I can expand on and experiment within my organisation.

Very helpful. Being challenged in my thinking by an expert helped me a lot to recalibrate my approach to safety.
